In Tokyo in 2030, a powerful weaponized robot is created by Dr. Tenma, the Minister of Science, as a substitute for his late son Tobio. After several mishaps, Tobio is separated from Dr. Tenma and he is eventually discovered by the kind-hearted Dr. Ochanomizu and his assistant Kathy. In his new home, Tobio is given the name Astro Boy and sets out to create a better understanding between humans and robots by defending Tokyo and the world beyond.
